Job Summary:

The Marketing Manager will have overall responsibility for the quality, consistency and strategic direction of OUC’s Marketing services. He/she will initiate, plan and manage all marketing activities and campaigns for OUC’s. This will involve the delivery of cross-channel, high profile impactful marketing campaigns that drive action and engagement with OUC. The marketing manager will need to understand emerging trends in marketing, and work to understand how these innovations can be applied to the organization’s context. He/she will engage, colleagues, staff, contractors and partners to bring about effective and efficient results.


Fundraising & Marketing Department

Key relationships:
CEO, Fundraising Manager, Staff, Contractors and OUC partners.

Scope & Authority:

• Developing and implementing strategies to increase the funding sources of OUC on and offline from a range of marketing initiatives, campaigns and activities.
• Managing the online marketing in conjunction with the OUC digital fundraising team within the agreed strategy, framework and budget.
• Managing the direct and offline marketing, this includes, initiation, planning and execution of those campaigns.
• Provide effective leadership and build strong working relationships with departments across the organisation to ensure integrated marketing plans are developed and implemented to achieve maximum impact with external audiences.
• Working across all departments and teams to ensure adequate management of existing and future marketing prospects.
• Ensuring marketing activities are implemented and managed effectively to deliver budgets, targets and income in line with the OUC strategy.
• The Head of Marketing will be responsible for recording, measuring and reporting on digital fundraising activities.
• Managing the Marketing Department budget, operating within the budgetary limits of the Department, and in accordance with OUC policies.

Key Accountabilities:

• Plan, coordinate and implement the OUC marketing strategy to achieve financial objectives in consultation and partnership with OUC’s external agencies, consultants and freelancers.
• Create a direct marketing programme of activities/campaigns as a base/foundation to implement and achieve marketing plans and goals annually.
• Develop and implement supporter journeys across direct marketing channels.
• Prepare, monitor and evaluate financial targets and expenditure for national campaigns.
• Managing the spend of a sizeable marketing budget and support annual budget planning.
• Manage the Marketing budget and participate in forecasting and budget setting processes and reviews to ensure effective use of resources for advertising and marketing campaigns.
• Responsible for the content, editorial policy and quality control of OUC’s website and SEO to optimize engagement with new and existing supporters/donors and raise funds.
• Responsible for the content, editorial process and quality control of OUC’s feedback and commination’s to donors/sponsors.
• Interact and collaborate with team members, staff and external agencies to ensure all marketing communications and fundraising activities align.
• Ensure that strategies, campaigns and activities across all departments Optimise the way OUC is viewed by the public and external stakeholders, and ensuring that our purpose and impact is relevant and understood across all owned, earned and paid channels.
• Research and identify third party ad serving platforms and opportunities in the sector.
• Ensure regular feedback is given to relevant team members, issues and concerns highlighted and remedial action is agreed and implemented.
• Facilitate the delivery of wider departmental and organisational goals through your digital fundraising network.
• To lead on the creation and development of key building blocks, processes, systems and guidelines for the Marketing department to deliver effective and sustainable growth and high-quality materials, consistent with OUC’s brand, across all departments.
• To build, develop and manage strategic partnerships with business suppliers ensuring cost-effective service, clear compliance and commitment to OUC’s values/goals.
• Where and when required, support the fundraising team with online and offline fundraising activities through a coordinated approach across various advertising platforms.
• Ensure maximum return on investment from marketing budgets.
• Organise and attend meetings and any necessary training for any digital fundraising related activities.
• Ensure that effective management and accountability procedures are in place and followed, as well as the protocol and procedures set by One Ummah
• Support SMT colleagues in resolving significant operational issues.
• Attend SMT meetings to update colleagues on Marketing and other key strategic matters, as outlined above, and to support the CEO.
• Any other task as deemed appropriate by the CEO within the scope of the role.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management role (E)
• Proven experience working with Senior Executives. (D)
• Experience of working in the UK charity sector (E)
• Suitable accredited marketing qualification such as CIM Certificate Marketing. (E)
• Educated to degree level, or to have equivalent relevant experience (E)
