    Social Media Strategist

    We are seeking a strategic, creative, and data-driven Social Media Strategist & Team Lead to elevate our social media impact. This is not a basic posting role. You will be responsible for developing and executing a high-level growth strategy across all major platforms, while also leading a small team of social media managers.

    One Ummah is a faith-based international relief and development agency, working in  over 19 countries worldwide on programmes such as Water and sanitation, Food,  Education, Orphans Support, Healthcare, Shelter, income generation and Emergency  Disaster Relief.

    JOB SUMMARY 

    We are seeking a strategic, creative, and data-driven Social Media Strategist &  Team Lead to elevate our social media impact. This is not a basic posting role. You  will be responsible for developing and executing a high-level growth strategy across all major platforms, while also leading a small team of social media  managers.  

    The ideal candidate understands Islamic audiences, has a strong pulse on trends, and  knows how to turn content into conversions—whether that’s increased engagement,  reach, or donations.

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS 

    Head of Marketing, Staff, and OU service providers.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:  

    Social Media Development: 

    Strategy & Growth 

    • Develop and implement platform-specific strategies (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook,  YouTube, X, LinkedIn...etc) focused on organic and paid growth, engagement, and  donation-driven results. 
    • Conduct competitor and trend analysis, using insights to shape both content and ad  targeting plans.
    • Set and track KPIs for reach, engagement, follower growth, ad performance (CTR,  CPC, ROAS), and conversions. 
    • Work closely with the Head of Marketing to align social media goals and ad  campaigns with broader campaign objectives.

    Content, Campaign & Ads Performance 

    • Audit existing social media performance (organic + paid) monthly and provide  actionable reports. 
    • Collaborate with video editors and graphic designers to plan creative assets for both  organic content and paid ads (reels, carousels, stories, lives, static ads). 
    • Analyse and test different caption styles, posting times, hashtags, video thumbnails,  and ad copy to continuously improve performance. 
    • Oversee seasonal and emergency campaign content and ensure maximum online  and ad impact. 
    • Manage ad budgets, audience targeting, and campaign optimisation across Meta  Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, YouTube Ads, and LinkedIn Ads.

    Team Management & Coordination

    • Supervise and mentor two social media managers, ensuring their work aligns with both organic and paid strategy.
    • Delegate tasks effectively, set clear expectations, and hold weekly check-ins.
    • Review scheduled posts and ad creatives before launch to maintain brand tone and quality.
    • Manage scheduling and ad tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Ads Manager) and oversee publishing and campaign calendars.

    Brand Consistency & Innovation 

    • Maintain a cohesive visual identity across platforms in line with our brand  guidelines. 
    • Propose and experiment with new formats (e.g., Instagram Guides, YouTube  Shorts, carousel storytelling, cross-posting strategies). 
    • Stay up to date on algorithm changes, platform updates, and Islamic nonprofit  social trends.

    The ideal Social Media Manager position candidate will showcase the essential  administrative, professional, and technical skills and experience required. Qualifications: 

    • Educated to University Level (E)

    Experience, Knowledge and Skills: 

    • A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, sales, or a related field is  preferred. However, equivalent work experience and a strong social media  marketing portfolio may also be considered (E). 
    • Experience managing social media accounts for a brand, NGO, or nonprofit  organisation (E). 
    • Data-driven mindset, strong analytical skills, knowledge of social media  management tools and listening software (E).
    • A deep understanding of humanitarian challenges, global issues, and cultural  sensitivities to write compassionately and responsibly about the charity's  mission and the communities it serves (D). 
    • Proficiency in using social media platforms, content management systems  (CMS), and email marketing tools. The candidate should be familiar with  leveraging these tools to engage audiences and effectively amplify the  charity's message (E).
    • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet  deadlines, and deliver high-quality content on time (E). 
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, contributing  ideas and actively participating in discussions. Simultaneously, the candidate  should be self-motivated and capable of taking initiative independently when  required (E).
    • An empathetic nature and a genuine dedication to contributing to positive  change in the world through humanitarian efforts. 
    • Proficiency in English, with strong grammar, vocabulary, and communication  skills (E). 
    • The ability to adapt writing styles to match the charity's brand voice and tailor  content for different platforms and target audiences (E).
