السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ‎

The global orphan crisis is growing at an alarming rate. For instance, 150-200 MILLION orphans worldwide are rapidly increasing by almost 10,000 daily. Consequently, the orphan crisis is worse than ever. As an Ummah, we must unite, make Dua’a, and donate in the hopes Allahﷻ will ease their suffering. The need to sponsor an orphan in Ramadan is greater than ever.

Millions of helpless orphans live in poverty and conflict, deprived of life’s necessities. Moreover, they live in developing lands and disaster zones, where they’re at risk of exploitation, abuse and forced labour.

As the situation escalates, they desperately need our help and protection, and caring for orphans is one of the most sacred duties in Islam. The Qur’an emphasises our responsibility to support parentless children, reminding us of their vulnerability and need for protection. Allahﷻ repeatedly warned against mistreating orphans, promising severe punishment for those who disobey. However, those who care for orphans will be rewarded by Allahﷻ in this life and the next.

Allahﷻ says in Surah Al-Nisa: “Indeed, those who devour the property of orphans unjustly are only consuming into their bellies fire. And they will be burned in a Blaze (i.e., Hellfire)” – [4:10].

With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, we’re given a chance to gain immense thawab (blessings) through many acts of charity; Allahﷻ especially loves those who care for orphans during Ramadan.

By answering the call of our Creator, we follow the example set by our beloved Prophet Muhammadﷺ who similarly encouraged caring for orphans. The Qur’an reminds us that caring for orphaned children is a righteous deed in Islam:

And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive.” – The Holy Quran (76:8).

Good deeds are multiplied in Ramadan, and the Ajr (spiritual benefits) of sponsoring an orphan are even greater. Through donating towards the construction of an orphanage, we gain Allah’sﷻ infinite mercy through the eternal rewards of Sadaqah Jariyah.

One Ummah has been transforming the lives of orphans for __ years. We are dedicated to ending the exploitation of orphans in crisis-hit countries such as Syria, Tanzania, Burma and Lebanon.

Thanks to the will of Allahﷻ and your generous donations, we have empowered thousands of orphans every year, providing an environment in which they can finally thrive. Last year, we gave 2,800+ orphans a brighter future. The Prophetﷺ became an orphan at a young age and knew of the hardships faced by orphans, urging Muslims to support orphans.

‘Narrated by Sahl bin Sa`d: “The Prophet Muhammad said, “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” putting his index and middle fingers together.’ –[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Sponsoring an orphan with One Ummah gives an innocent child a new life and a fresh start. Your donations create a safe space and a nurturing environment for orphans to thrive in and feel secure. Moreover, providing clothes, food, shelter and education gives them the tools to transform their lives.

In conclusion, let us strive to make this Ramadan memorable. Let’s reflect on how we can ease the pain and suffering of Muslim orphans worldwide. Seek the pleasure of Allahﷻ, and we will reap boundless rewards. Remember how fortunate we are; although we may think we have nothing, some genuinely have nothing. Allahﷻ will hold us all accountable on The Day of Judgment, forgiving whom He wills and punishing whom He wills.

Engage in virtuous acts, help others and take one step closer to securing your Akhira this Ramadan.

Ramadan Mubarak from the One Ummah Team,

Jazakum Allah Khayr.
