The Afghans are Suffering
The Afghanistan Appeal exists because the need has never been greater. On the 22nd of June 2022, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Paktika province of Afghanistan, claiming the lives of at least 1,000 people. Thousands more were injured or displaced, left without shelter, food or clean water in one of the world's most vulnerable regions.
Years of hardship and conflict have pushed over 10 million Afghans to the brink of famine. Families across the country face impossible choices every single day, with no end to the suffering in sight. Children are among the most affected, many facing severe malnutrition and without access to basic medical care.
Why the Afghanistan Appeal Matters
Afghanistan has faced decades of war, displacement and economic collapse. The 2022 earthquake was yet another devastating blow to a country already on its knees.
