Afghanistan Appeal - Help Families with Food and Winter Aid

The country’s humanitarian needs have several causes. UNICEF’s mid-year report describes economic fragility and food insecurity alongside climate-related shocks and population movements. When households already have little to fall back on, another disruption can make their daily needs harder to meet. 

The national response plan aimed to reach 17.5 million people in 2026. UNICEF’s mid-year report noted that funding shortfalls were constraining humanitarian work. 

The same report describes damage to homes, roads and water infrastructure from flooding during the first half of 2026. Such damage affects more than the building a family lives in: it can disrupt the services and routes they depend on. Support with food and winter needs sits within that wider difficulty of keeping a household cared for. 

Food, shelter and healthcare are connected parts of family life. A damaged home can leave people exposed to the weather, while difficulty obtaining food adds to the work of keeping a household well. What Your Donation Can Help Provide 

For £100, you can provide a family of five with winter aid. The £120 food option can feed up to three families of five for up to one month. A £300 gift can provide up to three families with emergency aid. 

These amounts relate to different kinds of support. If food is the assistance you want to fund, choose the food option. It helps you connect the gift you are making with a household’s meals, while the winter and emergency options address other needs through the same appeal. 

You can support the Afghanistan Appeal with a suggested amount or a custom gift. If you are giving together as a family, consider which option you would like to support and contribute what each person can manage. You do not have to give more than you can afford to take part. 

Helping Parents Care For Their Families 

When you think about the preparation that goes into looking after your own household as the weather changes, you consider whether there is enough food, whether people have what they need and how to manage the bills. Parents in Afghanistan have their own versions of those responsibilities, often with far fewer resources available. 

Your Sadaqah can come alongside a parent’s efforts to keep their family fed and warm. A mum receiving assistance is still the person looking after her child, making decisions and doing what she can for her family. Your gift can help with some of the needs she is trying to meet.
