Rohingya Emergency Appeal

Rohingya families have faced persecution and repeated displacement from Myanmar. Many fled during the violence of 2017, while others have been forced to leave more recently. For parents raising children away from home, finding enough food and somewhere safe to live remains a daily responsibility, long after the journey across the border has ended. 

The UNHCR’s June 2026 briefing describes a crisis that has continued for years. UNICEF’s 2026 Bangladesh appeal also highlights overcrowded camps and heavy dependence on humanitarian assistance. Restricted opportunities make it difficult for households to meet their needs without help, while reduced funding puts essential services under further pressure. 

Temporary shelters also leave households exposed to seasonal weather and fires. Replacing damaged possessions can add to the costs families already face, making continuing assistance important beyond the first response. 

Children need care throughout these years, including opportunities to learn. Their parents are still trying to look after them, often with limited resources and uncertainty about what comes next. How the Rohingya Emergency Appeal helps 

One Ummah supports Rohingya communities in Bangladesh and Myanmar with essential assistance. The programme includes food and clean water, alongside medical help and shelter support. These needs overlap: a household receiving food may also be struggling to replace bedding or obtain medicine for someone who is unwell. 

Blankets and clothing can be among the items provided through this work or bought by the beneficiaries themselves through the cash aid they receive. For a family living in temporary accommodation, household essentials still matter. Having something to sleep under or clothes to change into is part of caring for children and older relatives, even when a permanent home remains out of reach.

£50 can provide emergency food aid for one family. If you are thinking about a parent trying to prepare meals for their household, this gives you a practical way to help. Food assistance can ease one immediate concern while the family continues to manage the other demands of daily life. 

The Rohingya Emergency Appeal also offers £100 towards goats to help a family develop an income, and £250 towards cash assistance for a family in need. These options serve different purposes. Livelihood support can contribute towards earning opportunities, while cash allows a household to respond to its own needs and priorities.

Remembering Our Rohingya Brothers And Sisters 

News about a crisis can become familiar while the need continues. A family living through displacement still has meals to arrange and children to care for, whether their situation is in the headlines or has received little attention that week. The Hadeeth in Sahih al-Bukhari 1417 teaches us not to dismiss even a small act of charity, mentioning half a date.
