4.5 MILLION DISPLACED URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP TO SURVIVE!
In August 2024, devastating floods ravaged Bangladesh, leaving more than 5.7 million people in urgent need of humanitarian aid. The torrential rains submerged hundreds of homes, and the country continues to struggle with the aftermath as families rebuild their lives amidst immense hardship.
Bangladesh is one of the most vulnerable countries to natural disasters and the impacts of climate change. As sea levels continue to rise, the situation in Bangladesh has become increasingly life-threatening.
There is a dire need for an emergency response from the Ummah to provide food, water, medical care and other essential aid. As fellow Muslims, we have a sacred duty bestowed upon us by Allah ﷻ to stand by the Ummah in their time of crisis. Now is the time to act. Your generous donation will make a life-changing difference to many disaster zones around the world. Our brothers and sisters fight for their lives – we must fight alongside them.
One Ummah’s dedicated teams are working tirelessly on the ground in Bangladesh and other disaster and war-torn countries, providing emergency aid kits, clean drinking water, hot meals, hygiene kits and more.
The August 2024 floods were among the worst Bangladesh has seen in decades. Relentless monsoon rains caused rivers to burst their banks across multiple districts, submerging vast stretches of farmland, roads, and homes. The Feni district was among the hardest hit, with entire communities stranded for days without access to food, clean water, or medical attention. Families climbed to rooftops to escape the rising waters, losing everything they had worked a lifetime to build.
Over five million people were displaced, with more than 71 people losing their lives in the initial weeks of the disaster. Crops were destroyed, livelihoods wiped out, and the road to recovery for many families remains long and uncertain. Children, the elderly, and those with disabilities faced the greatest risk, with many unable to reach safety without help.
Within days of the floods, One Ummah deployed teams directly to the worst-affected areas. Our volunteers and field staff worked around the clock to reach families cut off from outside help. In the first phase of the response, our teams distributed over ten thousand hot meals to flood-affected communities, ensuring that the most vulnerable families had at least one nutritious meal each day.
Alongside food, our teams delivered emergency aid kits containing essential hygiene supplies, clean drinking water, and first aid materials. For families who had lost their homes entirely, One Ummah provided emergency cash grants to help them meet their most basic needs as they began the long process of rebuilding. Every single donation made through our Bangladesh flood emergency appeal goes directly towards this vital work on the ground.
When you donate to One Ummah's Bangladesh flood emergency appeal, your contribution goes to work immediately. Even a small amount can feed a family for a day, provide safe drinking water, or supply a hygiene kit to prevent the spread of disease in overcrowded displacement camps. Your generosity could be the difference between survival and despair for a family who has lost everything.

After days of relentless torrential rains and overwhelming water surges, local river banks burst, unleashing widespread devastation. Over 5 million people and counting have been afflicted by what stands as one of Bangladesh’s most monumental challenges. An alarming 20% of Bangladesh currently lives below the poverty line, and this latest disaster threatens to plunge millions more into hardship.
Feni, roughly 60 miles northwest of the main port city of Chittagong, was the worst hit. Nur Islam, a 60-year-old shopkeeper in Feni, said, “Everything is underwater,” and his home and livelihood had been completely destroyed.
One Ummah acted swiftly, flying it’s UK team out and mobilising partners on the ground to aid those in need. We have distributed over ten thousand hot meals to the hungry and continue delivering critical dry food packs.
Our main focus remains the safety and well-being of those at risk, and we will soon begin distributing rehabilitation cash grants to help our fellow Muslims rebuild their lives.',
Raise your hands in Dua for those suffering, as well as those risking their lives for the sake of Allahﷻ. Ameen.
