Our family sponsorship programme helps with needs including food, water, clothing, shelter, medication and education. Those areas of support sit within the daily work parents and carers are already doing for their households.
A family’s needs can change. Food is needed regularly, while other costs may arise when someone is unwell or a child needs support with learning. Sponsorship contributes towards the programme’s assistance, with the purpose of helping families manage the circumstances they face.
When you sponsor a family, you help with the cost of caring for the people who depend on them. A parent can be doing everything they can and still need support with food, clothing or other daily expenses.
The appeal offers £100 for one family, £200 for two families and £300 for three. Monthly options are also listed at £100, £200 and £300 for the corresponding number of families. Check the frequency as well as the amount before confirming your choice.
You can sponsor a family through a regular payment if that fits your circumstances, or choose a one-off contribution. Consider what you can sustain alongside the responsibilities in your own home. Our team can explain the options if you are unsure which arrangement matches what you intend.
If you gave £100 each month for twelve months, your gifts would total £1,200. Looking at that total alongside the monthly payment can help you decide what is manageable. This is a way to plan your giving around the resources you have, with care for your own household too.
One Ummah’s family sponsorship work includes Afghanistan, Kenya and Lebanon. If a particular location is important to you, ask about the programme’s current arrangements before assuming that your donation can be assigned to a household there.
If you are collecting with relatives or friends, agree the amount and purpose before sharing the appeal. Explain whether the gift is one-off or recurring, so that everyone taking part understands the commitment they are helping to make.

You may know how much attention goes into managing a family budget. There is food to buy and clothing to replace, alongside the other things a household needs. Parents dealing with hardship are considering those responsibilities too, often with far fewer resources available.
Think of the care involved when someone close to you needs help. You consider what would be useful and what you can manage. The decision to sponsor a family can be approached with that same attention, with concern for people whose circumstances differ from your own.
Your contribution can help a parent meet some of the costs of caring for their family. A mum looking after her child is still the person making decisions and doing what she can each day. Financial assistance can help with some of the needs she is trying to meet.
The programme includes support for widows and other households facing difficulty. We ask you to sponsor a family with respect for that existing care, keeping the people receiving assistance in mind alongside the amount you give.

This appeal is also known as Providing Rahma. Helping with another household’s needs is one way to express mercy through action, using what Allah has provided for you to contribute towards someone else’s care.
In the Hadeeth recorded in Sahih Muslim 2699a, the Prophet ﷺ taught about relieving a believer’s hardship and Allah’s help for a servant who helps his brother. That teaching gives our concern for others a place within our hopes for the Akhirah.
You can sponsor a family seeking Allah’s pleasure and make Du’a for those receiving support. Ask Allah to ease their circumstances and place barakah in what they have. We also ask Him to accept your Sadaqah and make it a means of good for them.
If you want to give regularly, choose an amount that you can manage. Consistency should fit your circumstances and responsibilities. You can ask our team about the programme before starting, so that your decision is informed as well as sincere.
One Ummah’s 100% donation policy explains how project funds support delivery, including implementation, with core running costs funded separately. The policy applies to the amount received after external payment fees.
For questions before you sponsor a family, contact info@oneummah.org.uk or call 0300 111 3111. Ask about the support, payment options and any information you need to understand the commitment.
Choose what you can give and check the details before confirming. Your support can help a household with everyday needs while its members continue caring for one another. May Allah accept your charity and ease their hardship.
