Providing clean water isn’t just a mercy on our brothers and sisters who are suffering; it’s a blessing for us in the form of Sadaqah Jariyah—rewards even after we return to Allahﷻ.

Why Give Through One Ummah?
Last year, your donations allowed One Ummah to provide clean water to 2,287,420 people in need.
Together, we developed 469 water access points, where hundreds of thousands can now use every day. In drought-stricken regions where families are used to trekking barefoot for hours in search of water, 167 bore wells and 25 deep well tubes now provide clean, reliable access minutes away from their homes.
Dignity is something our Ummah is being stripped of every single day. We restored dignity to villages by installing 237 hand pumps. To help those facing acute water shortages, we installed 20 large-capacity hand pumps and 20 traditional water wells; lifelines for communities during the harshest of seasons. When emergencies struck, our rapid-response emergency desalination projects ensured that millions had access to safe drinking water.

Whats the Ummah are Facing Right Now
Right now, millions of our brothers and sisters are suffering because they live without something many of us take for granted—clean water. It is not just a resource, it’s their right. It's a mercy from Allahﷻ, yet so many are denied it. The Prophetﷺ said: “The best charity is giving water to drink.” [Ahmad]. And today, that charity is desperately needed.
1 in 4 people worldwide don’t have access to clean water. Almost half of the world lives in severe water scarcity. Some places don’t even have access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene all year round. The water crisis claims 3.5 million lives every year due to avoidable water-related disease. One out of every five children are without clean drinking water. Whilst we have the freedom to drink, shower and leave our taps running, this is the reality our Ummah faces.
- Half of Bangladesh’s drinking water is polluted with arsenic, which is inflaming an already dire situation and poisoning the population.
- Women and children walk for miles in Uganda under the scorching sun, balancing heavy containers of muddy water, just to keep their families alive.
- In Niger—one of the hottest countries on earth—only around 56% of people have access to a source of drinking water. 78% of schools don’t even have drinking water.
- Palestine is not just being starved; they’re being dehydrated. Almost 100% of Gaza’s water and sanitation facilities have been damaged or destroyed.
